Betty McMurtry joined the firm in 2004 with an accomplished career spanning more than four decades in the legal field. As a paralegal, Betty works closely with the attorneys beginning with pre-suit investigations through the entire litigation process. She handles all phases of discovery and manages medical records and other vital documents, providing summaries and chronologies and working with experts.

Betty grew up in Natchitoches, Louisiana and attended Northwestern State University working toward a major in Business Education. She began her legal career in Natchitoches and then moved to Central Florida in 1993. She found her forever home in 2004 as a legal assistant to Tom Schieffelin, when the firm was Hill, Adams, Hall & Schieffelin, and has continued to advance to the position of paralegal.

She previously served as Vice President of Membership and Director of Education in the Florida Association of Legal Support Specialists (FALSS), gaining better communication and people skills as well as organizing and attending many hours of legal seminars. Betty has two adult children and six grandchildren, and enjoys listening to music, taking day trips and spending time with family.
